Winterdance by Gary Paulsen
A fascinating account of a man so obsessed by the Iditarod that he had to run it twice. His tales of maniacal dogs, blinding snowstorms and moose attacks are alternately gripping and hysterically funny. A typical event is a training session in which Paulsen lost control of his dogs.
