Ferney
Ferney by Long, James
Gally Martin was drawn to the decrepit old cottage the moment she and her husband Mike stumbled upon it during a house hunting expedition in the quaint, history laden town of Penselwood. Gally just knows what need to be done to restore the cottage to its former self. Dissension in the marriage begins as Gally finds herself drawn to Ferney, an 83 year old local man who knows an astonishing amount of local history. As Ferney spins tales of the past: of Saxon raids, black plague, and rebellion, Gally realizes that she knows these stories. They are more than stories, they are memories. Gally begins to remember her former lives on her own. Ferney is a constant in these lives, their devotion to each other defeating time and death. Gally is torn by her growing love for Ferney, by the memories from past lives, some beautiful, some horrific, and her love for her present husband. She has a terrible to decision to make which will affect many lives present and future.
