The Dogs who Found Meby Ken Foster
I did something last night that I haven’t done for a long time; I read a book cover to cover in one evening. Stray dogs just seem to find Ken, or, as he points out, he notices them, and is willing to save them. The first dog he finds is a small, terrified Border Collie that someone deserted at a New York City dog park. No one else seems to notice that the dog hiding under the bench is alone. Next up is a puppy trailing a tattered leash. The dogs keep coming and Ken joins the network of people who rescue dogs, and try to find new homes for them. It’s a fascinating exploration of how animal shelter and rescue groups function, interspersed with tales of rescued dogs, and some wisdom on living with dogs. This book will be particularly meaningful for anyone who has saved a dog, or adopted one.
