Castles in the Air by Judy Corbett
Two penniless young lovers find their dream house in a crumbling old castle in Wales. The book details their struggles to find funds to buy the castle, and the joys of slowly restoring it. Along the way they meet some of the castle’s ghosts, track down two entire rooms that were removed and shipped to America in the 1920’s, do battle with bats rats, and pigeons, and make the acquaintance of the many eccentric Welsh contractors. The story starts off a little slowly but is worth the effort, halfway through you won’t want to put it down.
