Bones Would Rain from the Sky: Deepening Our Relationships with Dogs by Suzanne Clothier This book made me laugh out loud through the introduction, tears were more common through the rest of the book. Anyone who loves and is loved by a dog will be deeply touched by the thoughtful analysis Clothier has given to the human canine relationship. Many chapters are case histories of “problem dogs”. Clothier’s insightful explanations shows time after time a lack of communication between dog and owner is really the source of the problem, not a willful, disobedient dog. The book contains images that will always stay with me; a training exercise in which two humans can only use vegetable names to train each other, a dog that had lost all trust in its owner and ran away when every possible, and a solemn funeral ceremony wrecked by the playful antics of a Golden Retriever. One of the best dog books of the year.
