A.D. 62: Pompeii by Rebecca East
Miranda is a shy classics professor who has never felt comfortable in the modern world. She agrees to test a time travel device which will transport her to Rome. Her tiny stature and knowledge of ancient Greece and Roma make her a natural choice. Unfortunately the technology proves faulty and she finds herself stranded in doomed Pompeii, robbed of all her belongings except an old recorder, and sold into slavery. Reminiscent of Michael Crichton’s Timelines and Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series.
